News 2 - The Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information recommends that the Parliament adopt as a basis the bill on amendments to the Law “On state assistance to mass media and social protection of journalists” (re specification of the notion “mass media personnel, compared to journalists” and eliminating contradictions between separate legislative acts of Ukraine) - Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine

The bill (Reg. No. 3577) suggests change the title of the current law and introduce the following one “On state assistance to mass media and social protection of mass media personnel.”

It is also planned to establish that anchors, correspondents, columnists, editors, editorial staff and editorial board members, operators of photo, video and installation equipment are equated to journalists (according to chapter 2 of the national occupational classification).
